Finally got back into coding stuff.
Currently our intention is to create the next version with loads of bugfixes, some minor balance and comfort tweaks and some new content. Not much, just the long-announced paintable wall-block.
As the idea of liquid cement is already used in multiple mods however, i’ve decided to use a different idea for the creation of these walls. Don’t worry, it won’t be the crappy clickedy cement of MeC, but a quite neat new idea, capable to be used for many purpouses like clearling liquids (even LAVA!) sealing small tunnels, suffocating mobs, putting out fires and of course quickly constructing stylish AND PAINTABLE buildings.
Just to say this much, save up some clay :3
Don’t exspect this soon, though. While the code is quite finished and sprites are currently worked on as well, we’ll first hand the new version to the Beta-Testers for aimed debugging, which will take a few additional days, too… Thus i can’t give you an approx. date, as i don’t yet know how many bugs the code will eventually throw up.
PS: I’ve got to slightly edit above statement: The new construction thingy is NOT useful for direct confrontation against mobs… they just run straight throught it until it’s hardened. Digging a pit and filling it above the mobs head works, though :3
HAYO!
Will the custom recipe for clay will be back too?
Probably yes. Clay is fairly common now, but i assume it could still be a problem to obtain if you want to use it large-scale.
Eventually i will add an UUM-recipe for it ^^
the force field generator will be back too right?

Will the Luminator (or some other EU-using light source) be making a comeback? It seems a shame to be generating power and not be able to waste a little here and there for lighting. I think I’ve read in a few places the Energy-O-Mat gives off light (I could have completely misunderstood)… even if that is true it wouldn’t seem like an appropriate replacement.
Energyomat gives of REDSTONE when powered. We will code a set of advanced Blocks vor Energy regulation.
Luminator is still on hold since MCForge doesn’t yet include the lightfix we need.
I have noticed on my server CPU usage is much higher then in previous versions are there any fixes coming or in place in the next version that address usage or comsumption, just wondering. It is the worst considering the amount of new items, and the fact that 1.8 is buggy enough to add cpu usage on its own, in fact without some the mod to kill xp orbs i think my server would crap a brick from working so hard. I do really love this mod, IC2 out of the box stability is amazing, can not argue that you guys just blew me away with the great work. Just great job and A+ for all involved.
Afaik the only “new CPU-Eater” is exclusively the sound manager. Which however is entirely unused sever-side.
Thus i would dare to say any big CPU-uses are rather caused by 1.8 (server-side) itself.
Ofc, for clients the problem is most likely the sound manager.. somebody missconcepted it for extreme high-end PC’s… ^^’
Right, I did read the redstone part from the wiki. That’s unfortunate about the Luminator, but thanks for giving Minecraft IndustrialCraft, it makes everything feel so much more useful.
will you remove the UUM-recipe for uranium?
Isn’t it already removed?
Derp, it wasn’t committed properly… there are a lot of minor changes which got lost over the course of my absence ^^
Readded it, thanks for reminding me.
Awesome! i thought it was sad that you talked about removing it having nuclear power is a lot of fun but the constant need of finding new uranium is not. But if the UUM-recipe is there, but you need to use breeders to make it effective, you can use nuclear power as a constant power source. I had started thinking about learning modding so that i could re-add it if you removed 🙂
Now, the problem is it’s an infinite source because even semi-efficient reactors (ntm breeders) will use 1 uranium to produce far more energy then what is ned to create it via uum.
Eloraam mentioned that IC2 was being fixed shortly so that IC furnaces would smelt RedPower ores. (She said that the change had to be made on your end)
Will that feature be part of this new update?
Jup, it’s meant to be in this update.
I assume you’ll be changing your ores to use metadata as well then? The less block IDs used, the better 😛
Probably, but it will cause some messup with all existing ores :3 We’re currently thinking about a method to convert these ores without much trouble.
Is it going to be kind of like the Amber from Fringe?
Hey, just wanted to write and say “thank you” for making IC2. I’m really enjoying it! Looking forward to the new release.
