Seriously wtfomgbbqblitzwavewithchickenlauncherandmrcappuchino.
(Cookie for anyone figuring out both references used in that term)

Got a 3-digit number of total donations within the last 24 hours.
And i can’t deny it’s probably the cause of Yogscast promoting that damn illegit modpack containing the big tech mods (IC, BC, Eloraam…)

Which kinda sucks, because even if i’m not doing this for money, IT’S A FREAKIN 3-DIGIT AMOUNT OF MASSIVE MONEY WITHIN A DAMN SINGLE DAY. Which means i’m meant to be thankful for that guy creating the modpack and getting yogscast to promote it o.o Which IS kinda stupid because i actually intended to be angry at him …

Btw, did i mention i need to start paying taxes if my monthly income passes ~300 ? Which will, in this speed, happen friday >.<

Wow, I never heard of having too many donations :), and something tells me when/if you ever get into contact with Lewis it will be kind of an awkward discussion.

FIRST AGAIN (I HOPE) DAMN I’M GOOD!
    Wait WHAT !
3 DIGITS ?! IT COULD BE ANYTHING ! FROM 100 to 999 DOLLAS ! BALLS DUDE.
That’s kinda big, but not as the IndustrialCraft 2 Magical Unicorn power!

No seriously I think that with all the effort you putted in the mod, you deserve it. But still, the bad side is that you’ll pay taxes… which really sucks. O well… Good luck with all your stuff and all that jazz…

Hi. I hope you don’t hate me and I’m more than happy that you are being appreciated. Technic is totally illegit it’s true, but it’s a modpack of love because I love the mods you guys have made SO MUCH that I just had to share it with the world. I don’t expect forgiveness or any sort of response at all, but I’m glad that people are generous. 🙂

Nah, you should be fine. Tax-free amount in Germany is 8600€ (or there abouts.) Good job though, also: curse yogscast and their friendliness.

  6. Onkelkopf says:

Heya Alblaka, it’s good to hear u’re getting that much donations 🙂

    But to keep u calm:
For me the reason to donate was not this yogscast modpack.

And I guess for most people it wasn’t 🙂

    • Onkelkopf says:

Sorry for double-posting but, if u’re passing 300 paying taxes is sadly quite normal in Germany ^^

But do u still have to pay taxes if you’re starting to split the donations between u and ur helpers?

      Just an idea ^^

  7. Skruffy says:

Nope, when i pop cash your way, its not cuz of any modpacks or what other people tell.. Its because you devote ” imho ” the same amount of your spare time into IC2, with devices, compatability for other mods, integration for other mods <- Like wtf?!! Yippie!, and in general now you implemented a team. Whats cool is that there is SO much compared to "regular" minecraft… I cant even fathom the idea of just starting 1.9 pre relase, or even try out 1.10 when it comes out… Not before my mods are updated to match it… In this case so far its ic2, bc2, RedPower.. And if i can get some sort of planes / transportation mod running together with them this will be done too. But it all have to be SMP compatible… So untill then, im forced to be a slave of waiting and old versions 😛

Hey, you oughta try living in the US…. the government thinks 240K a year with 6 people in your family is rich. I mean, I understand 200K a year for an individual, but…. what? Also, nice job on IC2, and I hope that a port to 1.8.1 comes out before 1.9.stable, because I’d like to see how IC2 works in conjunction with some of the 1.8 features.

    • Rgamer says:

P.S. I wish Mojang would stop changing their obfuscation method every single update.

    • Ian Maayrkas says:

Are you kidding? Twenty thousand dollars a month for 6 people? Hell, here in Italy a family (4 people on average) which gets more than 4,000€ (~5,500$)/month is damn wealthy, and I don’t think in USA life is more expensive. At least, not so much.

Anyway, Al, I don’t think people that can’t mod their game (and don’t bother learning) are so generous towards modders.
And of course, you deserve each of those 3 digits (which I assume are close to 100, since you said you’ll reach 300 in two days, so probably you actually deserve higher digits xD)

  9. Some dude says:

To people going “No, I donated because of you!” and such:
It’s ultimately the mod itself that leads people to donate. That’s true, and that’s the way things should be.
HOWEVER, the ADVERTISEMENT from the Yogscast along with that mod packer helped a great deal, bringing more attention to the mod which ultimately leads to more donations.

Omgwtfbbq is from somethingaweful.com and chicken launcher mr. Cap is your amazing jetpack for when you need a break mid flight.

  11. Samuel Smith says:

Is it really that big a deal if people bundle things into little packs of “this is what I like to use” mods, as long as they give credit for where the mods come from? It helps those not as tech-savvy to actually use the mods, and stops the pain of updating them and checking for compatability issues.

    *shrugs*

    • Alblaka says:

The problem is if the modpack contains a readme stating “I dont have permission and dont want it, because all modders ego’s are outright terrible”

      • pokenar says:

not saying that is ok, but to be fair, when i read it, he did say SOME. again, not saying i am taking his side

  12. KaiserTom says:

The Technic pack almost seems like it was a thing meant for easier installation of these awesome mods between friends or a guild/steam group/whatever, since there is an extreme lack of ANYTHING but a mediafire link, meaning it passed through word of mouth more than likely, even more stapling the fact in my opinion. The creator probably didn’t even realize it would become so popular that he would need to worry about legitimacy.

Though I am quite an optimist(?) in that sense, hoping no one was doing this in a “harmful” way to the modders. This pack also allowed the yogscast to do a video, because hell if they were going to risk spending the time to install the mod and having it be boring to their viewers. Now they know the awesomeness that is IC (and buildcraft together) and so do their army of 12-15 or younger year olds, A.K.A. a majority of subscribers, instantly increasing the popularity and knowledge of your great mod, which should have been popular before.

    • KaiserTom says:

I take back the first paragraph and first sentence of the second due to new knowledge of the text in the readme of the pack.

  13. Zarrab says:

Ist doch kein “Einkommen” sondern “Spenden”, zaehlt da nicht ein anderer Freibetrag? =)

  14. necans says:

Well,if you’re not gonna return the money you got from Yogscast promoting (as am should neither would you,not any other person in the world would do),then you can atleast make bundles and modpacks legit.Usually they dont get much attention unless its promoted, and when its promoted, you get alot of money. It just helps the community grow. All the modpackers need to do is credit authors, and add links to original sites/threads.Nothing would hurt you there.

    • Alblaka says:

I’m permitting Modpacks to use IC², if
      1. they actually ask me beforehand
      2. are of some quality regarding presentation, readme and stuff.
