They don’t modificate basefiles, which gives alot more compatibility.
Porting to a new version isnt the main problem. The main problem is to get Modloader/-MP/MCForge ported to 1.8, as they’re the base of all mods.
And with 1.8 being the biggest update evur, it’ll most probably take ages until Mods are playable, lol.
